One person is dead and another is seriously injured following an incident at a home in North Andover on Monday, officials confirmed.
The Essex County District Attorney’s Office said one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries from the Turnpike Street home. The other person was pronounced dead.
The Eagle Tribune reported that a mother and a small child were victims of a stabbing, possibly an infant according to some of its sources. The newspaper said there was no immediate arrest or search for a suspect.
The public prosecutor’s office did not comment on the circumstances of the incident or the victims.
North Andover police, Massachusetts State Police and the District Attorney’s Office are “in the early stages of an active investigation,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement. They are urging the public to stay away from the scene.
