Mucho Gusto opens Mexican restaurant in Gambrills

GAMBRILLS, MD — A new Mexican restaurant recently opened in Gambrills.

Mucho Gusto restaurant is located in the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre.

This is Mucho Gusto’s third location and the first in Anne Arundel County. The other two locations are in Bel Air and Towson.

“We are locally owned and operated, with an ownership group that lives here in Maryland,” Mucho Gusto said on its website. “Our food and beverages are prepared with local ingredients whenever possible, and our operations and purchases always strive to support our local business partners.”

The restaurant celebrated its grand opening on June 28th.

Brick walls and lanterns transform the dining room into an intimate space, and a neon sign that reads “Feed me tacos and tell me I’m pretty” is a trendy photo spot.

The restaurant conjures up Mexican classics and unique dishes.

The taco offerings range from chicken and shrimp to birria beef and portobello mushrooms. Other highlights include the fajitas and the patatas bravas, crispy potato slices with Mexican spices and chipotle aioli.

The corn tortillas and fresh salsa are homemade. The guacamole is prepared at the table in the spiciness you prefer.

Dessert options include churros and tres leches cake.

Margaritas, mojitos and sangria top the cocktail menu. Beer, wine and mocktails are also available. Happy hour offers discounts on food and drinks Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

These offerings earned the restaurant Baltimore Magazine’s “Best Mexican Restaurant” and “Best Cocktail Program” awards.

The name “Mucho Gusto” means “Nice to meet you” in Spanish and represents the company’s goal of creating a welcoming atmosphere.

“When my family and I go on vacation, we try to avoid fancy chain restaurants when it comes to eating out,” says the Mucho Gusto website. “We want to go where the ‘locals’ go, where you are treated like a special guest and not a number.”

Mucho Gusto is part of a changing Waugh Chapel dining scene.

The Farmhouse replaced Smashing Grapes earlier this month. Elevation Burger has closed, while Nothing Bundt Cakes is now open a few doors down.

Mucho Gusto is located at 991 Waugh Chapel Way, Suite 100. This is to the left of Dick’s Sporting Goods and next to Glow Nail Bar.

Mucho Gusto opens daily at 11am. It closes at 9pm on Sundays and Mondays, 10pm Tuesday to Thursday, and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
