FAA imposes flight ban at LaGuardia and JFK airports due to thunderstorms

NEW YORK (PIX11) — According to the National Airspace System status, a ground stop has been ordered at LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Due to thunderstorms, the FAA has postponed the takeoff of all commercial aircraft on Saturday.

“Departures to LaGuardia are canceled due to thunderstorms. The probability of an extension is moderate (30-60%),” the FAA website states. “Departures to John F. Kennedy International are canceled due to thunderstorms.”

According to a Social Media LaGuardia recommends that customers contact their airline to find out the status of their flight. You can check your flight status at LaGuardia Airport by clicking here.

According to the FAA, both ground stops at JFK and LaGuardia are in effect until 10 p.m.
