Bebe Rexha claims she was the victim of a hate crime at an airport in Germany.
On Saturday, Rexha posted clips on Instagram of herself crying and mentioning Lufthansa, Germany’s national airline, claiming she was threatened for speaking Albanian to one of the security guards. In the video, Rexha is seen sobbing and telling the airline she spoke to the security guard in Albania because she thought he was Albanian, but that led to a confrontation that resulted in him not letting her on the plane.
She described the incident as a hate crime and claimed that the security guard had psychologically abused her and that she had received no help from female Lufthansa employees.
“@lufthansa I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian,” Rexha wrote in her IG story. “I spoke to him in Albanian and asked where to get my ticket and now he’s banning me from flying.”
On the next slide, she continued: “I believe this is a hate crime because I am Albanian. He wouldn’t let me tell him his name. He continued to abuse me psychologically to make me feel more powerful than him. None of the women from @lufthansa intervened or said anything. He wouldn’t tell me his name. But I just found out he works for ATSG, a document control service company contracted by Lufthansa.”
According to TMZ, the airline has contacted Rexha to thoroughly investigate the alleged incident. Lufthansa is a service that “connects people around the world,” adding that diversity and equal opportunities are the company’s core values. The company also stated that it does not tolerate discriminatory behavior by its employees.
