Steve Maclin on the best advice he would give to anyone starting out in wrestling

In an interview with Fightful ahead of TNA Slammiversary, Steve Maclin talked about the advice he would give to people starting out in wrestling and the importance of playing the long game.

He said: “Wrestling is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. That’s the best advice I can give to anyone starting out in wrestling or even watching as a fan: you have to play the long game and see how things play out. Behind the scenes, things are always changing. You never know what’s going to happen on the political side of things, the business side and then the wrestling side. I can only control what I can. I’m going to go out there and do my part by going out there and doing my best. I think that’s what I’ve done since my time here in TNA, as a former World Champion and now at Slammiversary, where I’m competing for the World Title in a six-man match with five of the best competitors TNA has to offer. It’s just a testament to what I have in me and how credible I am and you just take advantage of the opportunities that come your way. So let’s say six to seven months, I went from a pre-show to here, and as I told you then, at Hard to Kill, the pre-show and the rebirth of TNA, I was the first person to call the shots, and here I am at Slammiversary. It’s a testament to the work I’ve done and also a testament to the opportunity and the confidence the company has in me.
