Armed man barricades himself in Langley Park; neighbors urged to seek shelter – NBC4 Washington

An armed man barricaded himself inside a home in Langley Park, Maryland, authorities say. Police urged neighbors to stay safe.

The hours-long standoff with Prince George’s County police began around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning in the 8200 block of 17th Avenue, police said.

Officers were called to the home because someone had fired shots. It was believed that a man with a gun was inside the home and that there were other people inside. There were no immediate reports of injuries and the people inside the home were able to escape, police said.

The police assume that the man was still at home.

“Residents in the immediate area are advised to seek safety on the lowest floor of their homes,” police said in a brief statement.

The area is located west of Riggs Road and south of the Adelphi Mill Recreation Center.
