Xbox players are warned they are running out of time to claim free credit

You’re running out of time

There are some changes to the Microsoft Rewards app, and Xbox users aren’t particularly happy about it.

As an Xbox fan, I’ve witnessed the demise of the Xbox Rewards program, which used to offer countless ways to collect points that could be redeemed for in-store credit.

Did you hear that the TimeSplitters series is back on PlayStation?

Unfortunately, several changes have limited players’ ability to earn points and reduced the value of certain actions, making it take longer to amass a sizeable stash.

Now, another change to the service has been announced on Reddit and it looks like it will further limit the number of points users can earn.

The update states: “We added language in the Microsoft Rewards section to clarify how points can be claimed on the Rewards Dashboard and that points will only be awarded for searches used for genuine, bona fide personal research purposes.”

What this means exactly is not known at the time of writing, as nothing has come into effect yet, but users are taking it as a sign that Microsoft will “crack down on people who type in nonsensical searches or the same words day after day.”

In case you didn’t know, you can earn quite a lot of points by regularly using the Bing search engine, either by completing tasks or simply by using it as your main browser.

Users were not as satisfied as expected and who can blame them since Microsoft Rewards becomes less and less valuable over time.

One user said he “usually uses the news searches or the search suggestions they provide me, so if that doesn’t count, then I think that’s their problem.”

Another added: “This is great, Microsoft is planning another Neft to the points. Can’t Microsoft just leave the program alone?”

Microsoft Rewards is really just a shadow of its former self and unfortunately it is questionable whether the situation will improve any time soon.
