SHREVEPORT, LA – People love a bargain, and these days more than ever, we’re looking for bargains. Grocery prices have risen through the roof, and finding ways to save is a top priority. Some people think that buying in bulk is one of the best ways to save money in the long run. You can do this at the big discount club stores like Sam’s or Costco.
When did the first Costco open?
On Costco’s corporate website, we learn that the company’s first location opened in 1976 as Price Club in San Diego. In those early years, the company targeted small businesses. But it soon evolved into a more mainstream company that was after consumers’ money. In 1983, the first Costco warehouse opened in Seattle.
We now know that Costco is expanding and will soon open a new store in Louisiana. Excitement has been building for many months while construction was taking place. Costco already has stores in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette. And now we know that the retail giant is about to open the doors of another store in Louisiana.
When will the new store in Louisiana open?
This new Louisiana location is scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on August 28. The pumps will be running on August 16. Employees are being hired, merchandise is arriving and shelves are being stocked in preparation for the start of business.
Where is the new Louisiana store?
This new Costco location will open in Covington, Louisiana, just off I-12. The Covington Costco has generated a lot of interest and the fan page on Facebook has attracted thousands of followers.
General Manager David Hernandez says they are excited to be in Covington.
This store has hired nearly 200 employees with a starting wage of just under $20 an hour including benefits.
Costco membership costs $60/year for Gold Star and $120/year for Executive membership.
