For $6, customers can decorate their own cupcakes and for $10 they can make a sprinkle mix to take home. The bakery is also offering a dozen mini cupcakes for $15. Each mini dozen includes a random selection of the best flavors. If you didn’t make it to the fair, Boki Gelato and Cafe in the Empire Mall has an expanded menu with Midway favorites like funnel cakes, corn dogs, kettle corn and fried Oreos and cheesecake. Owner Borjan Jaksic also operates Boki concessions with nine food stands and four mini lemonade stands at state and county fairs, so it made sense to bring those menu items to the mall, he said.

On the rocks in Valley Springs is closing on August 23. Owners Robert Pralguske and his son Jonathon have decided not to renew the lease on the bar, casino and supermarket they opened in 2021. Pralguske cited rising costs but noted that they might look for an opportunity in another city. The closing party will feature live music, free Jungle Juice and $2 cans of soda starting at 5 p.m. The impending closure means that Fat Daddys Smokehouse, which operated the bar’s kitchen, only the location in Sioux Falls remains. Owner Randy Ragatz expanded here in May and opened the kitchen in The Gaslight Saloon.

Customers with to-go or call-ahead orders as well as grab-and-go or take-and-bake purchases at Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Café & Bakery can skip the queue when ordering with a new checkout area.
