Subaru’s Solterra EV is the most discounted car (electric or gasoline)

As deals become more popular, many vehicles are selling for thousands less than their list price. Subaru’s Solterra EV is currently the most discounted car in the U.S. And yes, that applies to gas and electric vehicles too.

After launching its first electric vehicle in the U.S. last year, Subaru has upgraded the 2024 model with faster charging and new features.

With a starting price of $46,340, the Solterra is already below the average transaction price (ATP) for a new vehicle in the US. According to Kelley’s Blue BookThe ATP for new vehicles in the US was $48,401, 3.1% below its peak in December 2022 ($49,929).

After introducing drastic new incentives, Subaru’s Solterra is now the most heavily discounted car on the U.S. market. And yes, that includes gasoline-powered cars.

According to new Consumer Reports According to data, Subaru’s electric car tops the list, with Solterra models selling 12% below MSRP. That would mean buyers can get Solterras for around $40,800. That’s over $5,500 in savings.

The study examined recent transaction data from TrueCar to find out where buyers are making the biggest savings. Each of the top 10 models is selling for well below its base price, meaning it’s under $50,000.

The report noted larger discounts on more expensive models like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes EQB came in second with 11% off MSRP. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB starts at $53,050.

Since the Solterra is the most affordable car, it’s no wonder that sales are soaring in the U.S. Subaru sold 1,261 Solteras last month, up 66% from the year-ago figure of 758. Through July, Subaru has sold 6,646 Solterras in the U.S.

With leases starting at $329 per month for 36 months and $0 down, the Subaru Solterra is currently one of the best lease deals (electric or gas lease) in the US.

The 2024 Solterra has a range of up to 365 kilometers with a 72.8 kWh battery. It can also be fast-charged (10% to 80%) in about 35 minutes so you can continue your adventure. That’s about half the time it took the previous model.

Although it is based on Toyota’s bZ4X, the Solterra comes standard with additional features such as a DriverFocus distraction reduction system and the EyeSight driver assistance system.
