AEW is the perfect place for me to take over the leadership

Mariah May has had a meteoric rise to the top of the AEW Women’s Division. By winning the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, she booked her ticket to AEW All In. There she will challenge her former friend and mentor Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship. May already rose to fame in STARDOM before signing with AEW.

During a conversation with Justin Barrasso from Sports illustratedMariah May stated that moving from Japan to America and changing wrestling promotions was scary, but noted that she had to do it if she wanted to become a star.

“Change is definitely scary,” she said. “As an adult, it’s even scarier. I always knew what I wanted to do – be the best wrestler in the world. To achieve that and become a star, I had to come to America.”

May also mentioned that AEW is the perfect place for her to grow and excel in the business.

“All Elite Wrestling is where I can grow and shine. It’s the perfect place for me to take over women’s wrestling.”

In the same interview, May said that her favorite part of wrestling is the storylines. She also revealed that she was immediately excited by Tony Khan’s pitch for her storyline with Storm.

“I was so interested in the story Tony was telling me,” said Mariah May. “What I like most about wrestling is the storyline, and this was an incredible storyline. I was immediately hooked.”

Regarding her current role, May said that she is a fan of the old black and white films and that this role was right up her alley.

May is expected to be part of the August 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, as a Mariah May film will premiere on the show.
