The Menomonee Falls store is one of those being closed by LL Flooring

LL Flooring will close its Menomonee Falls store, one of dozens the company plans to close, as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

The specialty flooring manufacturer announced the closure of 94 locations in 30 states in a press release on August 11.

LL Flooring opened its first store in 1993 and has more than 300 locations, according to its website.

Menomonee Falls is the only Wisconsin store slated to close. A closing date has not yet been set.

Officials at the Menomonee Falls store declined to say how many people are employed at the store at N81 W15180 Appleton Ave. Jean Cambareri, a representative at LL Flooring’s corporate office, also declined to say how many people are employed there, telling a Journal Sentinel reporter in an email that LL Flooring “does not comment beyond the press release.”

Other locations in Wisconsin include West Allis, Kenosha, Madison, Sun Prairie, Appleton and De Pere.

LL Flooring is currently going through a reorganization process and hopes to sell the company.

In a letter to customers, company representatives said LL Flooring “currently expects to complete the sale of the business by the end of September, assuming a buyer is found.”

During the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, business will “generally continue as usual,” the company’s website states.

“(This) move is intended to provide LL Flooring with additional time and financial flexibility as we reduce our physical footprint and close certain stores while we pursue a going concern sale of the remainder of the business,” said Charles Tyson, president and CEO of LL Flooring, in a released statement. “As we go through this process, we are committed to continuing to serve our valued customers and work seamlessly with our suppliers and partners.”

LL Flooring will continue to accept gift cards at all existing and closed stores through September 3, 2024, according to a seven-page customer FAQ. After September 3, 2024, gift cards will no longer be accepted. Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash.
