Two trains strike and kill pedestrians near Princeton Junction Station

NJ Transit Police and Mercer County officials are currently investigating a deadly rail strike that occurred today on the tracks near Princeton Junction Station.AdvertisementAccording to official information, a pedestrian was hit by two trains during the incident, resulting in fatal injuries.

At about 9:26 a.m., Northeast Corridor train 3825, which departed New York’s Penn Station at 8:12 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Trenton at 9:48 a.m., struck a pedestrian west of Princeton Junction.

Shortly thereafter, the pedestrian was also struck by an Amtrak train traveling through the same area. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortunately, none of the 180 passengers and train crew on NJ Transit train 3825 were injured in the incident.

Following the accident, train service on the Northeast Corridor between Princeton Junction and Trenton was suspended in both directions, but has since resumed.AdvertisementLocal law enforcement authorities are conducting ongoing investigations into the circumstances of the tragic event.
