In long-distance traffic, there was particularly strong demand to and from the USA during the busy summer travel season in July.

The number of passenger trips to and from China increased sharply by +35.5% compared to the same month in 2023.

The airport also recorded a new record passenger load factor, which rose 86% in July, an increase of 0.2 percentage points since August 2015.

Most airports in Fraport’s international portfolio reported positive traffic growth, including Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia, which recorded traffic growth of +8 percent to 161,783 passengers.

Passenger traffic at the Brazilian airports of Fortaleza and Porto Alegre, operated by Fraport, recorded a sharp decline of -48.6 percent to 632,104 passengers last month. The negative development is mainly due to the suspension of flight operations at Porto Alegre Airport due to the severe flooding in the region.

Fraport pointed out that an emergency plan is currently in place for the Brazilian airport and that only a limited number of domestic flights are being operated from a nearby military base.

At Peru’s Lima airport, passenger traffic rose by +12.6 percent year-on-year to 2.2 million passengers, while Fraport’s 14 Greek regional airports welcomed a total of 6.4 million travelers, an increase of +3.8 percent year-on-year.

In Bulgaria, the Twin Star airports of Burgas and Varna registered a total of 796,997 passengers, a decrease of -1.7 percent.

At Antalya Airport on the Turkish Riviera, however, passenger traffic rose by +2.1 percent year-on-year to around 5.6 million passengers.

The total passenger volume at all airports actively managed by Fraport remained at the same level as the same month last year at around 21.8 million in July. ✈
