Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have the chance to expand their mega-mansion in Byron Bay as the neighboring property goes up for sale for million

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand their massive estate in Byron Bay’s so-called ‘Golden Grid’.

The nine-acre property adjacent to their $50 million property has been listed for an undisclosed price.

But real estate insiders have estimated the luxury resort could fetch up to $34 million.

However, the Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday that the Hemsworths had made no attempt to express their interests in the palace complex.

The website last went under the hammer in 2011 for $6.3 million. Australian comedy legend Paul Hogan and a few employees made headlines in 1983 when they bought the former banana plantation for $265,000.

It is currently owned by oil and gas multimillionaire Russell Staley and his wife Jennifer, who began construction of the current facility on the site in 2014.

The property known as Ohana is located in Broken Head in the Byron Bay hinterland between Hemsworth’s Place and Seven Mile Beach.

Surrounded by bushland, the architect-designed home opens onto a 450-meter-long seafront promenade and features a series of pavilions that can accommodate 28 guests.

Each part of the resort property is connected by covered walkways that connect areas such as a children’s playground and an entertainment terrace.

Highlights include an infinity pool, a tennis court, an outdoor gym, and a spa for yoga and meditation.

Other facilities include a skate park and a basketball court.

There are also accommodations for a property manager that have a separate entrance.

And according to real estate experts in the area, the property is expected to surpass Byron’s last sales record of $33.65 million.

Another luxury property in nearby Bangalow has been listed with a guide price of $37 million.

This comes after Bondi Sands owner Shaun Wilson recently spent $8 million to live next door to Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky.

The businessman, who co-founded the fake tan brand with Blair James, has plowed some of his generous earnings into buying a sprawling mansion in Byron Bay.

Shaun and his fiancée Tess Shanahan have rented a six-bedroom home in Byron Bay’s so-called “Golden Grid,” realestate.com.au reported in June.

The couple will have some very famous neighbors, as Hollywood star Chris and his wife Elsa, as well as his brother Liam Hemsworth, own multi-million dollar properties in the area.

Shaun’s new luxury property, which he bought for $8.26 million, sits on an elevated 1010sqm block and features a modern exterior with a pillared porch.

Australian actor Chris and his wife Elsa live with their three children in an eight-bedroom Balinese-style home in Byron Bay, which they bought for $7 million in 2014.

His brother Liam followed in his footsteps, buying 37 hectares of land in Byron Bay for $6.8 million in 2021, before putting forward plans to build a $14.6 million mansion on the site.
