The Arvind Kejriwal-led party lost deposits in all 90 seats in his home state.

BJP president JP Nadda on Tuesday ridiculed the AAP’s performance that saw it lose deposits in all 90 seats in Haryana, saying the Arvind Kejriwal-led party was ‘kattar beiman’ (completely corrupt).

“I want to say something else…there is one kattar beiman Party. They contested all 90 seats but their performance was so poor that they lost deposits on all the seats,” Nadda explained.

The Union Health Minister made the remark in his victory speech to BJP workers at the party’s state headquarters in Delhi.

The AAP, which emerged from an anti-corruption movement, calls itself ‘kattar imandaar’ (totally honest). However, its image has suffered in recent years due to corruption cases against its leaders, including state chairman Kejriwal himself. He resigned as Delhi chief minister after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in a corruption case.

Kejriwal, originally from Haryana, fought as “Haryana ka lal” (Haryana’s son). After unsuccessful talks with the Congress over an alliance, the AAP fielded candidates for all 90 seats in the neighboring state of Delhi.

However, the party ended with one Share of votes according to the electoral commission, only 1.79%. The Haryana poll was held on October 5 and the counting of votes took place on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the BJP secured a comfortable third consecutive term in the northern state despite defying both polls and a decade of anti-incumbency politics – polls predicted a landslide victory for the Congress. It won 48 seats (39.94% of the vote), while the Grand Old Party won 37 seats (39.09% of the vote). Three independents and two Indian National Lok Dal candidates were also victorious.
