Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier were stunned by the veteran referee’s comments about Alex Pereira after the knockout win at UFC 307

Joe Rogan shocked his co-commentators when he revealed the conversation he had with referee Marc Goddard immediately after the UFC 307 main event.

Light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira knocked out Khalil Rountree Jr. in the fourth round of their exciting fight at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday night.

Goddard was the man in the middle, and Joe Rogan went into the Octagon to talk to Pereira after making history by defending his title for the third time in 175 days.

Prior to their conversation, the veteran MMA broadcaster chatted with Goddard, who was blown away by the power “Poatan” displayed.

Joe Rogan relays Marc Goddard’s comments on Alex Pereira’s “ungodly” power

The England official is a former fighter and one of the sport’s most respected referees, so his thoughts on Pereira were of great importance to Rogan.

“I was in the octagon after the fight and Marc Goddard came up to me and said, ‘I’ve been doing this for 20 years,'” Rogan said at the end of the UFC 307 broadcast.

“And he says, ‘The way he hits people, the sound is like nothing I’ve ever heard before.’ He said, “It’s ungodly.” He said that over and over again, he says it ungodly.”

Former doubleweight world champion Daniel Cormier was in the commentary booth with Rogan and expressed his shock at Goddard’s high praise for Pereira.

“Wow! That’s crazy of Marc Goddard,” he said before Anik continued the conversation.

Marc Goddard admits he cried after covering the UFC’s favorite fight

Goddard recently spoke about his long career in the brutal sport.

The 50-year-old admitted he became emotional after witnessing what he considered to be the best fight he had ever refereed, even years later.

Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum blasted each other for 25 minutes as the interim middleweight title was on the line at UFC 236 in 2019.

Goddard revealed he broke down in tears after officiating the Israel Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum match in 2019.

They fought for 25 minutes with the interim middleweight title at UFC 236.

“Number one every day of the week, twice on a Sunday, is Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum,” Goddard said when asked by talkSPORT MMA about the best fight he has refereed.

“I couldn’t believe what was happening in front of me.

“Two fighters who went into the deepest, darkest depths of their souls, and they went into the deepest, darkest waters possible in a fight, and I was right next to them, standing three feet away, witnessing this unfold played.

“As soon as I know they’re safe, I’ll fucking run with my head in my hands.

“I won’t be ashamed to say I cried after the fight because it was ungodly what those guys did. It was ungodly.”
