Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart reacts to Dylan Stewart’s gun celebration

Ole Miss earned a 27-3 victory over South Carolina on Saturday, but that was far from the biggest story to come out of the Rebels’ Week 6 victory.

Late in the game between the Rebels and Gamecocks, South Carolina freshman edge defender Dylan Stewart — one of the most sought-after players in the 2024 recruiting class — sacked Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. What would have been a good play for South Carolina in an otherwise forgettable game instead became a point of national interest after Stewart mimicked firing a shotgun at Dart as he lay on the turf at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Here’s a look at the celebration that took place after Stewart’s third-down sack, with Ole Miss leading 24-3 at the time. Thanks to the penalty, Ole Miss was able to extend its drive and score a field goal, which would mean the final score of the 27-3 victory:

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer gave a curt answer of “yes” when asked if he spoke to Stewart about the penalty after the game. But the Gamecocks coach wasn’t the one who had the final say on the matter.

That instead went to Dart himself, who called out Stewart after the game ended. He tweeted a video of the incident with the caption: “How the hell do you miss a whole 100 shots.” The lyrics are from a song by rapper Young Dolph called “100 Shots.” It was released in 2017 as a diss track for Yo Gotti after his vehicle was reportedly shot at over 100 times in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Stewart finished the game with four tackles, three for a loss and one sack. Dart finished the game completing 14 of 27 passes for 285 yards and a sack. He also rushed eight times for a net gain of 44 yards.
