Commanders’ swipe at Browns tops Week 5 trolls

Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season featured last-second wins and easy wins.

The Washington Commanders dominated the Cleveland Browns and picked up their fourth straight win. The Houston Texans needed a late field goal to beat the Buffalo Bills. The Jacksonville Jaguars avoided an 0-5 start with a narrow win against the Indianapolis Colts.

Here are the top trolls for week 5.

Jayden Daniels’ show continues as the Washington Commanders won their fourth straight game.

Washington dominated with a strong defensive performance and held the Cleveland Browns without a touchdown until the fourth quarter. The Commanders had more passing yards (219) than the Browns had total yards (212).

Washington had a simple video with shadows that targeted the shared home state of the Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, two teams they had beaten in the previous three weeks.

It came down to the final play of the game, but the Houston Texans won on a 59-yard field goal by Ka’imi Fairbairn.

The Buffalo Bills tied the score with 3:18 to play, but took a 3-3 lead on their next drive, missing a chance to take the lead.

The Texans used buffalo wings, a staple of the Upstate New York region, as a cute pun to troll the Bills after the win.

Facing a potential 0-5 record, the Jacksonville Jaguars emerged victorious on a 49-yard field goal by Cam Little with 17 seconds left.

Without Anthony Richardson due to injury, Joe Flacco stepped in and threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns, including one that tied the game with 2:40 left. But the Jaguars found a way to emerge victorious, breaking the Indianapolis Colts’ two-game winning streak.

Jacksonville had some fun after its win, releasing a buzzy video aimed at Indianapolis.

Different continent, same result for the Minnesota Vikings, who defeated the New York Jets.

New York had a chance to tie the game, but Stephon Gilmore intercepted Aaron Rodgers with 49 seconds left to seal the win. Minnesota is now off to its first 5-0 start to a season since 2016.

The Vikings cleverly referenced London for their troll.

“Thursday Night Football” called for overtime, but it didn’t last long as the Atlanta Falcons scored on their first drive.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a three-point lead with 1:44 remaining in the fourth quarter, but went three-and-out, giving Atlanta a chance to tie the game. The Falcons did so on a 52-yard kick by Younghoe Koo and took the advantage in overtime.

Atlanta used the pirate in the “SpongeBob SquarePants” theme song to troll Tampa Bay.
