Saints QB Derek Carr left Monday night’s loss to the Chiefs early with an oblique injury

Derek Carr’s effort on Monday night ended with just over six minutes left in the game.

Carr went to the locker room with an oblique injury during his New Orleans Saints’ 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Carr, who simply responded “not well” when asked how he felt after the game, said he will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

“You know me, I’m going to do everything I can to be there,” Carr said when asked about his status for New Orleans’ Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Carr’s return was initially questionable, but he never returned, while substitute Jake Haener finished the evening.

Carr was 18 of 28 for 165 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked just once, but was hit eight times and pressured on 51.7% of his dropbacks.

The injury did not occur from a specific hit, but from a throw, Carr explained. He was hoping to do something to stay in the game, but there wasn’t enough time left.

“I couldn’t do what I needed to do,” Carr said. “In the simplest form and I asked if we could do something about it, but there wasn’t enough time. So I would have done anything to be out there and keep fighting, but I couldn’t. It sucks.”

Now he only has six days to prepare for the next mission on Sunday. Of course, this all depends on the results on Tuesday.
