Leslie Abramson is a criminal defense attorneywho many know and know from their role in defending Lyle and Erik Menendez.

She attended law school at UCLA before being admitted to the California bar in 1970. She began her career in Los Angeles and worked in the County Public Defender’s Office for six years before entering private practice.

Before representing the Menendez brothers, Abramson was the defense attorney for 17-year-old Arnel Salvatierra, who was acquitted of first-degree murder and convicted of the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter after he shot his father. Salvatierra was sentenced to five years probation.

In addition to the Menendez brothers, Abramson represented music producer Phil Spector before withdrawing from the proceedings for “ethical” reasons.

Where is Leslie Abramson now?

These days, Leslie Abramson has stayed out of the public eye and kept a relatively low profile. According to the State Bar of California, Abramson’s law license is no longer active.

After the Menendez trial, Abramson published The Defense Is Ready: Life in the Trenches of Criminal Law.
