Eric Roberts’ Memoir ‘Regret’ – ‘I Spent Months Correcting It’

During a conversation with NewsweekEric Roberts revealed that he “spent months correcting his memoir.” Runaway Train: Or the story of my life so far.

In the book is the actor – known from films like Star 80 And Runaway train– expressed regret over how he handled raising his daughter, actress Emma Roberts, as a child. He also spoke about the public feud with his sister Julia Roberts, which included a “public apology.”

Roberts said releasing his memoirs to the world wasn’t intimidating, stating matter-of-factly: “It’s just my life.”

“But honestly, it was intimidating to actually write the book, because as an actor, I’m kind of an instinctive embellisher, and my wife goes, ‘No, no, no, no, no, you can’t do that.’ “It happened, but not like that, Eric,” he said Newsweek.

“And so I fixed things and made the first draft very quickly, very quickly. I spent months correcting it, with embellishments and not enough – and just to be more honest,” he said.

“It was difficult because I’m an actor and we’re whitewashed troops. I won’t call us liars, but we are whitewashed troops, and I had to fight that, and my wife is a great overseer. I wrote a very honest book.

The Hollywood star said that what he wrote was “just polite” and he did not feel the need to contact those he wrote about before publication.

“People, like my family, of course I’m not going to say, ‘Can I talk about you in my book?’ I’m just going to talk about it – they’re my family, I have the right, they talk about me, and we have their right with each other, and because, you know, we’re not mean to each other,” he explained.

Roberts said he didn’t write this book to shock people. He also explained that he wanted to show readers that he is nothing like the characters he plays.

“I just like playing these guys. And I’m so good at these crazy people because they’re far from me. I can see them, so I can see them in three dimensions, and I can play them.”

Roberts’ memoir coincides with the time when he finally writes his long-awaited book Dancing with the stars Debut after first being asked to join the show 19 years ago. However, there was a scheduling conflict at the time and he had to cancel.

Now he dances alongside Britt Stewart, who first joined the show as an ensemble member in season 23 and held that role until season 27. In season 29, she made history as the first black professional dancer on the show.

Roberts told Newsweek He wishes his book had been published after the competition.

He added: “I wish my book wasn’t published until (October) so this could be the last chapter because that would be a great final chapter. But it has to be the opening chapter of my next book if this book sells.” So that’s what I’m aiming for now.
