Voter registration ends Monday; Early voting begins Tuesday

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Early voting begins Tuesday in Indiana for the 2024 elections, including the presidential race. However, to vote in Tippecanoe County, one must be registered in Tippecanoe County. The registration deadline is Monday.

At a recent election board meeting, former poll workers recounted how Purdue students showed up to vote thinking they could vote because they were registered in their home district. They couldn’t.

To vote here, you must be a Tippecanoe County resident and registered to vote in Tippecanoe County.

Luckily for those hesitant, registering to vote is easy — even in the final hours. To register online, go to https://indianavoters.in.gov/. The same website will direct voters to early voting sites and vote centers on November 5, Election Day.

It is well known who will come out on top in the presidential election. However, some voters may not know who is running for governor, senator, House of Representatives, Indiana House of Representatives, or Indiana Senate. You also may not know who is running for local offices, including county commissioner, county treasurer, county coroner, county surveyor and county councilor.

Additionally, there are open seats on the area’s school boards for election this season.

A list of candidates for whom a person can vote can be found at https://indianavoters.in.gov.

Additionally, the Journal & Courier reached out to the candidates with questions about the races they are running. You can find these online at jconline.com.
