The Padres-Dodgers playoff game is delayed after a fan throws a baseball at San Diego star Jurickson Profar

Sunday night’s showdown between the Padres and Dodgers was briefly halted after a baseball appeared to be thrown from the crowd at San Diego star Jurickson Profar.

The outfielder had taunted Los Angeles fans earlier in the night after diving into the crowd to make a spectacular catch.

But in the bottom of the seventh inning, tempers began to flare at Dodger Stadium. An angry Profar could be seen swearing at fans before a ball thrown from the stands landed near the 31-year-old.

Officers then intervened as the Padres star continued his temper tantrum. Teammates and referees surrounded Profar and tried to calm him down.

As the Padres players gathered to support Profar at midfield, a message blared over the stadium loudspeaker: “We ask that you do not throw anything onto the field.”

That sparked boos in Dodger Stadium. The game was then delayed as security guards and referees stormed the pitch in Los Angeles.

Other items were also reportedly thrown from the crowd, with Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. reportedly being attacked by bottles.

Fan footage posted on social media appeared to show Tatis Jr. taunting fans in the crowd before being led away by stadium security staff.
