Will Steelers’ TJ Watt reach 100 career sacks today? Cowboys?

Will TJ Watt record his 100th career sack for the Steelers against the Dallas Cowboys?

After three straight games with a sack, TJ Watt came up empty last week. Once again, he begins the day with 99.5 career sacks in the regular season and needs one to reach the century mark. Or, you know, half of one, but you get the point.

If you’re hoping for TJ Watt to get sack number 100 today, the Dallas Cowboys aren’t a bad choice. QB Dak Prescott has already recorded 10 sacks this season, or one on 6.29 percent of his dropbacks. While that’s not phenomenally bad (he’s not even in the top 10), he still had the 12th most sacks.

And the Cowboys’ tackles have been particularly poor in pass protection this season. While I don’t think the Steelers will move TJ Watt much (although they could), both Terence Steele and rookie Tyler Guyton have come up short in this area.

Every match TJ Watt gets is a mismatch because of course he is TJ Watt. But every team has a plan to defend him, and the Colts had a plan that worked better than most. At this point, it’s rare for Watt not to record a sack in a game. That, of course, is why he will soon reach 100 in his career, the second fastest of all time.

Overall, Watt is currently in a 100-way tie for 13th in the league with three sacks. With a season mark of 6.5, he is far away from the record set by leader Aiden Hutchinson. Even the Ravens’ 33-year-old Kyle Van Noy already has six sacks. And everyone’s favorite, Myles Garrett, has four, bad feet and all.

With Highsmith out and Nick Herbig dealing with an ankle injury, the Steelers will be relying on TJ Watt in this game. Even if Jeremiah Moon steps in to help, he has to be the game-wrecker today. And doing so in a historic way is never a bad thing.

The Steelers’ 2024 season is underway after another disappointing year that ended with a first-round playoff loss. They’ve had a long offseason since the Buffalo Bills put them out of their misery in January. There are positive signs, but things could get out of hand at any moment.

The biggest question on the team’s mind is the quarterback question. Will Russell Wilson get his job back when he’s healthy or will Justin Fields steal it?? How will the team proceed? the depth chartthat is surprisingly still changing?

After weeks of camp and preseason games, the regular season is here. The Steelers made numerous moves through signings and trades – and releases. More than usual, they seemed more comfortable creating holes and confident in their ability to fill them. Some were able to fill them, others not so much. However, now that we have so many pieces to the puzzle, we just need to ask a new set of questions.
