Brown’s five thoughts on the Ravens’ thrilling overtime win in Cincinnati

Baltimore’s defense has a lot to fix.

It will be difficult for Baltimore’s defense to watch film from this game. The Bengals scored too often, too easily and had too many big plays.

Even when the Ravens put Cincinnati on third-and-long, they failed to make a crucial play to get off the field. The Bengals were 7-for-7 on third down conversions early in the second half, leading to two long touchdown drives that kept Cincinnati on top and kept Jackson and the Ravens’ offense off the field.

Until Humphrey’s interception, the story of the game was the Ravens’ inability to stop Cincinnati from moving the ball through the air almost at will. Chase (10 catches, 193 yards, two touchdowns) turned an easy wide receiver screen into a 70-yard touchdown by running unhindered through Baltimore’s secondary.

Burrow and Chase are exceptional players. But a secondary that includes Humphrey, Kyle Hamilton, Marcus Williams, Brandon Stephens, Nate Wiggins and Ar’Darius Washington shouldn’t be picked apart so often. The Ravens defense has a lot to talk about, but after a win, at least they will.

“There are a lot of things we need to look at and pick apart, things we will work hard to improve,” Harbaugh said. “But I’m proud of the guys who continue to believe.”
