The Dodgers NLDS lineup for Game 2 remains the same as Game 1

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers will use the same lineup on Sunday as they did on Saturday to take a commanding lead over the Padres in the National League Division Series.

Yu Darvish starts for the Padres in Game 2, the second of three consecutive right-handed starters for San Diego in this series. So it’s no big surprise that the Dodgers have resorted to their starting lineup against right-handers over the last seven weeks.

The only question right now is the health of Freddie Freeman’s sprained ankle and Miguel Rojas’ torn adductor muscle. They both played through it in Game 1 and contributed. Freeman hit a single twice and even stole a base.

“I would say Freddie wasn’t moving well, but he was picking a bag and playing possum on us,” Padres manager Mike Shildt said.

Jack Flaherty vs. Yu Darvish on the mound

“He was very brave. He just forced his way into the lineup. He was definitely medicated,” Dave Roberts said with a laugh. “He’s doing everything he can to get on the field, man.”

Rojas singled in Game 1 and also made a nice over-the-shoulder catch that helped Blake Treinen escape a precarious eighth inning.

Mookie Betts faced Darvish more times than any other Dodger in 42 plate appearances, hitting .211/.286/.395 with one home run and four doubles. Freeman hit .257/.333/.514 with two home runs and three doubles in 39 PA against Darvish.

Shohei Ohtani only faced Darvish this season, on March 20 in Seoul and April 14 at Dodger Stadium. Ohtani had a single and two strikeouts in five at-bats against the Japanese right-hander.

Jack Flaherty starts for the Dodgers on Sunday. The two Padres who have faced him the most are Manny Machado, 2-for-8 with a double but eight walks, and Jurickson Profar, with two home runs and two doubles in 11 at-bats against Flaherty.

San Diego made a change to its lineup on Sunday, using left-handed slugger and old friend David Peralta as the designated hitter, batting eighth, rather than right-handed slugger Donovan Solano, who played first base in Game 1. The change comes with Luis Arráez playing first base after the DH assignment on Saturday.
