The Seahawks’ Rayshawn Jenkins returns a fumble 102 yards for a touchdown against the Giants

SEATTLE – Although the Seattle Seahawks defense played for most of the team’s 3-1 start, there were only three takeaways in the first four games.

That changed suddenly on Sunday at Lumen Field – and in a wild way.

The New York Giants drove 79 yards to the Seattle 1 on their first possession and took the lead on fourth-and-goal. But a 7-0 deficit turned into a 7-0 lead when linebacker Jerome Baker forced running back Eric Gray to fumble at the goal line. Safety Rayshawn Jenkins picked up the ball in the end zone and returned it 102 yards for a touchdown.

According to ESPN Research, it was the third-longest fumble return for a touchdown in NFL history.

It was a welcome moment in Seattle for Baker, who was signed in March but has been in and out of the squad until now because of a lingering hamstring injury. His first big play as a Seahawk resulted in a 14-point swing.
