AP Poll: Michigan nearly falls out of top 25 rankings after Washington

The Michigan Wolverines’ loss in a primetime matchup against unranked Washington cost them dearly, as they fell from No. 10 to No. 24 in the final AP poll.

In a week of chaos, five of the top 11 teams lost as Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, Michigan and USC were all upended. Alabama fell six spots to No. 7 after a loss to Vanderbilt, Tennessee fell four spots to No. 8 after a loss to Arkansas, Missouri fell 12 spots to No. 21 after a loss at Texas A&M and USC rose from No. 11 not counted after the defeat in Minnesota.

Michigan is now the only ranked team with two losses.

Michigan’s schedule continues to prove daunting as the Wolverines have already faced or will face each of the top three teams in the last poll, while Texas returns to No. 1, Ohio State moves up to No. 2 and now Oregon is at No. 3. Upstart Indiana continued its meteoric rise and sits in a three-way tie at No. 18. Meanwhile, Illinois is one spot ahead of Michigan at No. 23.

Penn State is ranked No. 4, and USC, Nebraska, Iowa and Washington also received votes.
