Miocic has not fought since losing the title by knockout to Francis Ngannou in March 2021.

Most fans believe the puncher from Ohio doesn’t deserve an immediate title shot after such a long period of inactivity, especially at age 42.

Instead, the fight the MMA world is expecting is Jones vs. Tom Aspinall.

That’s on hold for now and Jones’ attention is focused on what he describes as his “legacy fight.”

“Bones” has left no stone unturned in training and is close to the form of his life ahead of his fall showdown.

When Jones first moved up to heavyweight he carried some extra weight around his waist, but recent pictures appear to have gained significant weight.

On Wednesday night, Jones uploaded a shirtless snap to his story on Instagram that stunned fans.

One supporter wrote: “Jon Jones officially has six pack abs again. Game over, heavyweights.”

Another added: “He’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen him in.”

A third fan tweeted: “Heavyweight Jon Jones is a beast.”

Meanwhile, someone else called him a “monster.”

Jones and Miocic were originally scheduled to face each other at UFC 295 in November 2023, but the bout was postponed after “Bones” suffered a torn pectoral muscle in training.

As a result, White booked an interim title fight between Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich, which the Briton won.

He later defended it against Curtis Blaydes and is now in a good position to fight for the full world title, although Jones insists he will retire after his next fight.

Earlier this year he wrote on Instagram: “Fun fact that Jon Jones will never have to work again after this year as he is retired at 37. He wins.”
