NOTES: #5/6 UND battles Augustana in exhibition opener

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – No. 5/6 North Dakota takes the ice for the first time of the 2024-25 season for a showdown with NCAA Division I men’s hockey’s newest member Augustana on Saturday at 6:07 p.m. at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks. ND

All UND men’s hockey games, home and away, can be heard on stations throughout the Fighting Hawks Radio Network and on the iHeart Radio app, with longtime broadcasters Tim Hennessy and Mike LaMoine calling the shots. Friday’s game can be heard on 100.3 FM (The Cat).

Saturday’s game can be seen on Midco Sports, with Alex Heinert and Jim Scanlan calling the shots. Taylor Budge and Erik Fabian join the team as presenters before, during the break and after the game. Fans can also watch online with a subscription via NCHC.tv.

Saturday marks the first meeting between North Dakota and Augustana in regular season or exhibition hockey.

The last time the two teams met in a sport was in softball in 2008, the last year North Dakota played in Division II in all sports except hockey.

UND has won every preseason exhibition game since 1996-97, most recently 2-1 against Alberta.
