Early voting and vote-by-mail dates in the Bay Area

TAMPA, Fla. – Election Day is approaching.

But Bay Area residents will have until then to announce their choice for president, as well as other local and national figures and major statewide changes.

Some voters may cast their ballots early to avoid long lines at the polls.

Here’s an overview of Bay Area early voting dates and times for each county.

Voting by letter: County officials will begin mailing ballots to out-of-state and absent military Vote By Mail applicants starting Sept. 20. Ballots will be mailed to domestic Vote By Mail applicants on October 3rd. The ballots cast must be received at the election office by 7:00 p.m. election time at the latest on the day to be counted.

Early voting: October 21st – November 3rd, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m

Vote by postal vote: To avoid queues and vote from the comfort of your own home, you can request a postal vote. Call the elections office at 800-851-8754 or use our Online inquiry form at least twelve (12) days before the election for your ballot. Applications must include the voter’s date of birth, address, last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number or Florida driver’s license number/Florida ID number. Be sure to call early so you still have time to receive your ballot and return it in the mail.

Postal voting: Postal voting offers a convenient, time-saving and secure voting method. Simply call the office at (941) 741-3823 or click here to request your absentee ballot.

Absentee Voting: The last day to request an absentee ballot for the November 5, 2024 general election is October 24, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

There will be no early voting at your polling station. Do not go to your polling place to vote early.

Absentee Ballots: Absentee ballots are an option for registered voters who want to vote from the comfort of their home or who may be outside of Citrus County during an election.
