The Georgia Bulldogs bounce back at home against the Auburn Tigers

The Georgia Bulldogs returned to the win list this week after defeating their longtime rival, the Auburn Tigers.

The Georgia Bulldogs picked up their fourth win of the 2024 season and continued their historic winning streak at home this afternoon as they defeated the Auburn Tigers in the 129th edition of “The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.” The end result was ____.

While the Bulldogs’ offense wasn’t particularly explosive, it was much more effective this afternoon as the Dawgs sustained several drives of 10 or more plays and played relatively error-free. Running back Trevor Etienne turned in a 75-yard performance on the ground and reached the end zone twice.

The Bulldogs’ defense was also much improved after last week’s performance, as the Dawgs’ pass rush was much more disruptive. However, there were moments where the defense had some issues as they missed a handful of key tackles that allowed the Tigers to sustain their attacks and even score points in some cases.

The game was tied thanks to a 40-yard field goal by Peyton Woodring, making it a three-point game again. The defense then responded with a stop at the 30-yard line to keep Auburn out of the end zone. Georgia walks away with a solid 31-13 win over the Auburn Tigers.

Continued improvement and fewer mistakes on both sides of the ball will be a necessity as Georgia continues to fight through its SEC battle. The Bulldogs will face conference opponents in their next five consecutive games.

Georgia will be back in Athens next week where they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs before traveling to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns. The game against Mississippi State will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2022 season and the first time the Dawgs have hosted State since the 2020 season.
