“My actual safety is at risk”

Sydney Sweeney opens up about some of the hardships she’s faced on her rapid rise to fame.

In an interview with Glamor in a Women of the Year cover story published Thursday, the producer and star of “Euphoria” and “Anyone but You” revealed that particularly aggressive paparazzi harassed her so much that she stalked her home and refused , to leave the house unless she would go posed for her in a bikini.

She recalled the recent incident outside her new home in Florida where photographers started shouting at her visiting family.

“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then leave you alone,'” she said. She also responded critically to social media users who accused her of drawing attention from the paparazzi because of the ad, as some celebrities are known to do.

“Why would I call the paparazzi to take photos of me in my own house when my little cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard?” “Why would I ever want that?” she said. “I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They arrived at 8am and didn’t leave until 4pm. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”

And as far as security is concerned, she believes that the habit of such paparazzi to track her in her private home endangers her and her family.

“If these photos go out, my actual safety is at risk,” Sweeney told the outlet. “Everyone knows where I am. Now boats go by and I literally hear them saying, ‘That’s Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”

The conversation took place during the interview as I reflected on Sweeney’s fame and the special attention her body received in the media and online. She has taken most of the attention with ease, she said, and is especially happy for fans who learn to love their own body through the confidence she shows in her own skin.

“This means a lot to me because I truly believe in empowering others, feeling empowered with your own body and embracing your sexuality,” she said. “And if you have breasts, great. Show them off.”
