Trump hits back at Liz Cheney after spray-tan taunt at Kamala Harris event

Former President Donald Trump slammed ex-Congresswoman Liz Cheney after the Republican joke about the Republican nominee’s “spray tan.”

Trump branded Cheney “pathetic” and “low IQ” and blamed her and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, for foreign policy failures and wasted money. The Cheneys have announced that they will support Vice President Kamala Harris in this election. Newsweek contacted a representative for Liz Cheney via email and requested a response to the comments.

At an event with the Democratic nominee in Wisconsin yesterday, Cheney showcased her Republican credentials as Wyoming’s senior representative for nearly a decade, adding, “I was a Republican before Donald Trump started spray-Trumping.”

Cheney and Trump have long been at odds after the congresswoman played a key role in the former president’s second impeachment and was one of only 10 House Republicans to vote for Trump’s role in the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

This, in addition to her role as the top Republican on the Jan. 6 investigative committee, led to Trump endorsing Cheney’s opponent Harriet Hageman in the 2022 Republican primary for her Wyoming seat, leading to Cheney’s departure from Congress.

Trump told Truth Social: “Liz Cheney lost her congressional seat to an incumbent representative by the largest margin in the history of Congress. The people of Wyoming are really smart!”

“She is a low IQ War Hawk who, as a member of the J6 Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs, ILLEGALLY DESTROYED AND DELETED all documents, information and evidence. Your father Dick was the leader of our ridiculous trip to the USA Trillions of dollars were spent in the Middle East, millions of people were killed – and for NOTHING?

“Well, today, because the Republican Party doesn’t want them anymore, these two fools supported the most liberal senator in the US Senate, even further to the left than even Pocahontas or crazy Bernie Sanders – the lying Kamala Harris,” Trump added.

“What a pathetic couple they are, both suffering severely from Trump Deangement Syndrome. Good luck to both of you!!!”

In September, Cheney said her father would also support Harris, adding that the election was too close for moderate Republicans to abstain.

She has since joined the Harris campaign in key swing states, hoping to turn out independents and disaffected Republicans who could be persuaded to vote against Trump again in November.
