Bruins coach gives rough update on Matthew Poitras

The Boston Bruins play the Los Angeles Kings tonight (October 3) in Quebec City. It should be an entertaining contest as the Bruins will have players like David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, Elias Lindholm, Nikita Zadorov, Pavel Zacha and Charlie Coyle in the lineup.

However, Bruins’ rising star Matthew Poitras won’t be in the lineup, and for a less-than-ideal reason.

Speaking to reporters, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery revealed that Poitras is currently out with an injury. At this point, however, Poitras is considered just an everyday event.

It’s undoubtedly hard to hear that Poitras is struggling with injury, even if it’s believed to be a short-term issue. With the start of the regular season just days away, it would be difficult if Poitras wasn’t ready to go by then. The youngster is becoming a regular part of the Bruins’ lineup, so his absence would be felt.

The 20-year-old Poitras played in 33 games for the Bruins last season, scoring five goals, 15 points and a plus-4 rating.
