Passed the law.

One of the highlights Joe discovered while roaming the Bucs’ locker room after the loss to the Eagles is that a Bucs captain gave his teammates a new ass last week for blowing the game against the inferior Broncos.

And he’s also a guy who does his best to stay out of the spotlight. That would be Lavonte David.

Joe was told that David really upset his teammates because they weren’t prepared, didn’t play hard from the first kickoff, and embarrassed themselves against the Broncos because they played like a Sun Belt team.

His words may have been on everyone’s lips on Sunday, as the Bucs played with energy, fire and emotion as they crushed the Eagles. The attack was precise, sharp or, as Bucs coach Todd Bowles called it, “crisp.”

It looked like two completely different Bucs teams in eight days.

Today Joe asked David if he “had all hell broken loose” last week and David chuckled and admitted: Yes, he did.

“It is what it is,” David smiled. “(I) just had to lead. Things needed to be said. In order to be the football team we want to be, we had to meet certain standards.

“So things had to be said. And I think (those words) were well received.”

They definitely were. The Bucs played like they were on a mission last Sunday. The coaching was spot on. Guys who normally struggled stood their ground. And of course, the Bucs stars were, well, stars.

Mike Evans probably had his best game of the season. Rachaad White easily had his best game. Chris Godwin was Chris Godwin. Baker Mayfield was sharp. Vita Vea was unstoppable.

If David was waiting to pick the right time to utilize his teammates, it seems he picked the perfect time.
