ESPN criticized for not being able to find Mets-Brewers game: ‘I pay to watch the games’

If you missed the New York Mets taking a 1-0 lead against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series, you weren’t alone.

While ESPN was broadcasting it, the start of the game was hard to find – neither on the ESPN app nor over the air. Apparently the Kansas City Royals’ win over the Baltimore Orioles was at the top of the app and the ESPN channel didn’t immediately switch over from the AL Wild Card game.

The only stream available in the app to start Game 2 was the Spanish broadcast, unless you were familiar with the ESPN app and were able to scroll through the various menus to find the tile that contained the game.

MLB fans were not pleased and expressed their displeasure with X:

@BangersOnly27: @espn I pay to watch the games, not people to talk after the games. Let’s get the Mets/Brewers game started. Play these interviews on the secondary channel

@jstapfinator: My ESPN app has been a mess so far this offseason. Given the problems with broadcasting the Tigers/Astros game today and the mystery surrounding the disappearing Mets/Brewers rosters, I’m less than impressed with the experience.

@Feeger: @espn can’t find the Mets-Brewers game in your app. Probably because the Royals game is still on, but come on.

@TheoFast: @espn hosted the Brewers/Mets game
Send the post game elsewhere

@KenTheJet: @espn Move to the Brewers-Mets, good lord

@AlexSmithSNY: For those looking for Mets-Brewers on the ESPN app, scroll to ESPN 2. Game starts there, Royals-O’s go long.

By the time the broadcast was available to the general public, the Brewers had tied the game 2-0 with a home run by Jackson Chourio in the bottom of the first inning.
