Rain on the way before a pleasant weekend

(WALA) – Rain showers will gradually return to the Gulf Coast as the work week ends. We will see a slight increase in our humidity levels on Thursday and there will be a scattered chance of rain towards the evening. There will continue to be isolated showers on Thursday night. And there is a good chance of rain on Friday, with the chance of rain increasing throughout the day.

The air should gradually become drier again over the course of the weekend, with isolated chances on Saturday and Sunday. An even drier air mass is likely to arrive on Tuesday next week and ensure more pleasant autumn air.

In the tropics, we continue to monitor an area for possible development in the Gulf of Mexico. Rock rising from the northwestern Caribbean Sea will merge with moisture and a frontal zone in the Gulf to form an extensive low pressure area by the weekend. There is a possibility that this could become a tropical system. At this point it appears that the majority of the rain will fall over the Florida Peninsula and we will continue to monitor developments in this area over the next seven days.

Elsewhere in the tropics, we observed Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Depression 13. Both systems are in the open waters of the Atlantic and are not expected to impact the United States.
