Beer showers and more after the Astros sweep

Andy Ibáñez hit a three-run double with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning to give the Tigers a 5-2 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series. With the win, the Tigers advance to the ALDS to face the Cleveland Guardians.

After the game, the Tigers players celebrated their first playoff series win in 11 years, with champagne and beer showers, kicked off with a speech from manager AJ Hinch, who led his team to a win against his old ball club. Before the celebration began, Hinch dropped something that will go down as an iconic line in this team’s history.

“Someone got the Tigers hot,” Hinch said as he uncorked a bottle.

The team also doused Hall of Fame shortstop and 1984 World Series MVP Alan Trammell with beer in the middle of the locker room. Trammell is a special assistant to the general manager.
