Celebrities front row at the Chanel Spring 2025 Ready to Wear Fashion Show

The fashion was well received at the Chanel show on Tuesday morning, which was back in Art Nouveau splendor after years of renovation work.

Jennie Kim was having a blonde moment. The Blackpink star debuted the hair color as part of a new look for her upcoming solo single. Maybe, or maybe not, she teased.

“My new look today. I have new blonde hair and this pop of color I chose is a very different look for Chanel and me,” she said. The single is titled “Mantra”.

“I can’t reveal too much yet, but maybe this new look is a little teaser,” she said. As for her personal mantra, she said more is yet to be revealed. “It’s about all sorts of mantras, and I can’t decide on one at the moment.”

The sound is also a mystery until next week. “That’s a little secret I want to keep,” she said, only revealing, “It’s hot.”

However, the atmosphere at the Grand Palais was airy and cool, with an all-white set. In the finale, Riley Keough performed an acoustic version of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” on the air – swinging while floating in a birdcage.

(This song is having a moment, and also plays a key role at Monday’s Stella McCartney show, which was dedicated to birds and feather-free fashion.)

Keough had been rehearsing the performance since Sunday, and the message resonated with her. “The theme was liberation and then freedom,” she said.

But Elvis’ granddaughter, who recently played a singer in “Daisy Jones and the Six,” has no plans to make any career moves. She described singing as “a hobby.”

“I sing when people ask me to, but that’s not my goal,” she said. But if you asked them to make an album?

“I don’t think I can write music,” she said. However, Keough is also prolific in other genres. She is currently in the process of writing a new screenplay and recently completed her late mother Lisa Marie Presley’s memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown. The book tour begins next week while she takes a break from filming in Spain.

Odessa Young wore a cozy chocolate-colored tweed suit. “I’m having a love affair with the color brown right now,” she said of the cozy knits. “It reminds me of a Vancouver blanket look, very upscale hippie.”

Young had something of a fangirl moment after Keough’s performance. The moment of surprise almost brought her to tears, as Keough is one of her favorite singers and actresses. But she didn’t bring her glasses and couldn’t tell who was performing until she heard the first notes.

“I completely freaked out. I was just so happy. It really brought tears to my eyes,” she said. Young worked briefly with Keough on the film Manodrome.

“She has, in my opinion, the most beautiful voice in the world,” she said, praising Keough, who joked that they should collaborate.

Young just finished filming Black Rabbit with Jude Law and Jason Bateman, a thriller set in the restaurant world, and has learned to tattoo himself for the role. To learn, she worked with some New York tattoo artists, buying supplies on Canal Street and practicing on rubber and oranges. “I wouldn’t recommend letting me tattoo you, but I might do it… I won’t say I practiced on people because that could lead to legal repercussions,” she joked.

“It was so nice to see that momentum, to have the feeling of air. “This is a collection that carries a lot of lightness and lightness,” said newly minted brand ambassador Lupita Nyong’o.

She worked with stylist Micaela Erlanger to find something chic and weather-appropriate for the morning show, and wore a beaded velvet jumpsuit to mark the occasion.

The Oscar winner said she remembers wearing Chanel right after filming “12 Years a Slave” and has attended several shows and events over the years.

“This is an important brand, a heritage brand, a historic brand, and I am happy and very proud to contribute to this legacy,” she said of joining the house. “It’s a brand that really understands its DNA and its identity, but isn’t afraid to play by the rules of that identity.”

The house is looking for a new creative director following the surprise departure of Virginie Viard earlier this year. The collection, which contains some directions, was designed by the studio team.

Some of the looks featured sky-high platforms that looked pretty daring. Nico Parker called it one of her favorite things about the series. Would she be able to walk in it? “Hopefully in my head,” she joked. “I don’t know if I could do it as well as those models, but I think I would do a good shift.”

After filming Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the focus was on shoes. Her character is a cool London teenager with lots of trendy baggy jeans and big sweaters. Comfort is key, but to up the fashion factor, she wore rubber shoes, a trend Parker found easier to understand in theory.

“I loved looking at them, but wearing them proved a bit treacherous,” she said. “I said, ‘Yeah, bring that American Apparel back,’ and as soon as I put it on I was like, ‘Oh, I understand why people don’t really wear these anymore.'”

Nevertheless, filming with Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant was “a dream come true” for the young Brit.

“Such a bucket list (period). That was my actual childhood and adolescence watching these films,” she said of the first two films. “Just being close to this iconic cast was surreal.”

Afrobeats superstar Wizkid is also in the process of releasing his new single and previewed it during a surprise performance at a Parisian club the night before the show. Even though Chanel doesn’t have menswear, the singer chooses her jackets and loves to style them with her accessories and jewelry.

“I am a big fan of the brand. It’s legendary. I wear it for shows, for everything. I also like accessories on my hats, my necklaces, my bracelets and the belts. I really, really love the Chanel belts,” he said, which was proven by his look with chains and multiple brooches on his hat.

For the new single, which is dedicated to his late mother, he not only wears accessories but also his heart on his sleeve.

“It literally comes from the love that I have for my mother, and I just wanted to shine a light on how important love is in this world,” he said. The superstar made a quick exit. “It got a little rowdy,” he said of the fashion show audience.

Actress Dar Zuzovsky explained that the show was “magical” with lots of light streaming through the glass roof of the Grand Palais.

She just wrapped “The Saints,” Martin Scorsese’s upcoming TV series about the life of Jesus, which was filmed in Morocco.

“It was just crazy to me that he even knew my name,” she said of being cast by the legendary director. She approached the key role of Mary Magdalene with caution.

“It’s such a big task to play not just a real person, but a person who means so much to the entire religion. So it was quite stressful and I had to find her within me,” she said. “Everyone is going to have an opinion and I just have to find my own voice in it. She’s also from Israel, like me, and that was a nice connecting point.”

Bella Maclean found perhaps the most casual Chanel outfit for the morning show. She wore dungarees or overalls with a double C embossed on the back pockets.

“I didn’t know dungarees could be so flattering. I just feel like I want to live in it all the time,” she said of the comfortable look. Her next film “Rivals” with Aiden Turner and David Tennant is just finished.

“It’s about money, power, class, sex. It’s raunchy and has heart,” she said. It is set in the British television industry of the 1980s. This earned her shoulder pads and big hair. “The clothes were pretty great. They are very dramatic compared to now.”

Another industry shadowy film titled Ballad of a Small Player starring Fala Chen and Tilda Swinton is in the works.

The film was shot entirely in Hong Kong and Macau. “It’s really rare to get an insider’s look at the casino scenes. And it’s dark. It gets really dark and dirty,” Chen said. “It’s like Vegas – but times 10.”

But the actress was dressed in crisp white, with sparkling star detailing on the bodice. She reacted to Keough’s performance. “It just gives you a lot of imagination about what you’re capable of as a woman, that makes you want to break the cage and just fly.”
