Melania Trump reveals she’s pro-choice in memoir Bombshell

Melania Trump, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, proudly professes her support for abortion and a woman’s right to choose in her upcoming memoir The Guardian.

Several of them MelaniaThe strongest pro-choice excerpts were published Wednesday by the newspaper, which received a copy of the book.

“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to decide what she does with her own body? “A woman’s fundamental right to individual freedom and her own life gives her the power to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes,” the former first lady wrote.

“Restricting a woman’s right to decide whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my adult life.”

The report comes just hours after Melania’s husband confirmed for the first time that he would veto a nationwide abortion ban if re-elected to the White House.

Trump previously dodged the question, saying at the presidential debate last month that he had not discussed the matter with his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, who had previously claimed that the former president would veto a federal ban would insert.

At the debate, Vice President Kamala Harris also said: “Understand, if Donald Trump is re-elected, he will sign a nationwide abortion ban.”

Trump responded that that was a “lie” and that there was no reason to sign a ban “because we got what everyone wanted.”

In a major Truth Social post Tuesday night, he echoed that argument, saying that the issue of abortion “is left for states to decide based on the will of their voters (the will of the people!).”

In late August, Trump also said he would personally vote “no” to repealing Florida’s restrictive six-week abortion ban – an upcoming ballot measure that Melania, as The Guardian pointed out, seems ready to vote yes.

“I have always believed that it is important for people to take care of themselves first,” writes Melania Melania. “It’s a very simple concept; In fact, we are all born with a number of basic rights, including the right to enjoy our lives. We all have the right to live an enjoyable and dignified life.

“This common-sense approach applies to a woman’s natural right to make decisions about her own body and health.”

In MelaniaMelania cites several “legitimate reasons” for pregnant patients to have an abortion, including rape, incest, danger to the mother’s life and congenital birth defects The Guardian.

She also recognizes that many “choose to have an abortion for personal medical reasons” and asks the reader for compassion and understanding.

“Our next generation,” she implores, “must be provided with knowledge, safety, security and comfort, and the cultural stigma associated with abortion must be eliminated.”

Their stance represents a clear break with the stance of many members of the Republican Party, even if the official party platform is more aligned with Trump’s position of leaving it to the states.

The platform released this summer led the party to abandon its longstanding support for sweeping federal abortion restrictions, angering abortion opponents who attacked the new language as watered down.

However, those same advocates were pleased with the inclusion of language linking abortion to the 14th Amendment, suggesting that future courts could further expand the legal concept of fetal personhood.

Since the fall of Roe v. WadeAbout half of U.S. states have adopted abortion bans or restrictions, with 13 states already enacting so-called abortion bans before the 2022 Supreme Court ruling, which took effect immediately afterward.

Although Melania is nominally tight-lipped about her personal life and political views, she has opened up to a point in recent interviews about her book, which is set to go on sale October 8.

Late last month, she said further Fox & friends that her husband would have liked to have more children after they welcomed Barron in 2006, a year after their wedding.

“I was always perfectly fine with one. And Donald was encouraging to have more,” she said. “And I said, ‘I’m totally fine because life is very busy.'”

Melania called the couple’s arrangement “simply perfect.”
