‘The Masked Singer’ Spoilers: Who Is Woodpecker?

Are you as excited as we are to see The Masked Singer back on TV? As much as we love watching the over-the-top performances of The Masked Singer, we get even more joy from finding out the names of the celebrities participating. This is especially true if we can crack the code of who is hiding in a costume in front of the four judges (Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke).

Season 12 of “The Masked Singer” is shaping up to be the most competitive season yet. The producers filled the line-up with 17 stars. One of our week 1 favorites was dressed as Woodpecker and wowed the audience with her cover of Flowers by Miley Cyrus.

We’ve gone through the clues and the Sept. 25 appearance and have all your The Masked Singer spoilers, including the answer to the question “Who is Woodpecker?”

We think Woodpecker is it Marsai Martinwho first found fame as a child actor in “Blackish.” Don’t you agree with our best guess? Consider how the clues match the story of Marsai Martin’s life, starting with the appearance of her ambassador Jenifer Lewis (Season 11 Miss Cleocatra). Lewis explained, “I’ve known Woodpecker since its inception.” Lewis played her grandmother on the long-running comedy series.

Lewis revealed that Woodpecker is both a mogul (Martin produced the film “Little”) and a CEO (Martin founded a hugely successful nail brand, Mari, three years ago). And she teased that Woodpecker was friends with Beyoncé (as was Martin). Lewis’ final clue was a framed “world record”; Martin became the youngest studio film producer in PGA history when she broke through with “Little.”

Visual cues included some sports videos (Martin is dating a NASCAR driver). Rajah Caruth); a framed sign that reads “Family” (another reference to “Blackish”) and an SAT scorecard (Martin’s character, Diane, was super smart).
