Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard and her boyfriend face eviction – NBC Chicago

An eviction lawsuit has been filed against Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard, the embattled leader of the south suburban village who remains under federal investigation for alleged misuse of municipal funds.

NBC Chicago obtained a copy of an eviction notice filed Sept. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court that names Henyard and her boyfriend, Kamal Woods, who is an employee of Thornton Township, where Henyard serves as a supervisor.

Henyard and Woods are behind the $3,350 rent on their Harvard Street home in Dolton – plus $50 a day and $2,400 at the start of the month. According to the documents, the couple had five days to vacate – or sign a new lease and pay all the rent owed.

When contacted by NBC Chicago, Henyard’s landlord declined to comment on the details of the lawsuit. NBC Chicago also reached out to Henyard for comment, but as of Sunday afternoon we had not heard back.

Henyard is at the center of multiple investigations and lawsuits, including an ongoing federal grand jury investigation that began in November 2023. In the latest twist, a Cook County judge ruled that recently hired employees would not be allowed to work at Village Hall because the appointments violated both the Illinois Municipal Code and the Dolton Village Code.

Henyard recently appointed a new police chief, village attorney and village manager without approval from the Dolton Village Board. An injunction was issued against Henyard and the three commissioners, ordering them not to come to the community center while other staff could continue their work as usual.
