Baltimore Orioles stars discuss loss in opening Wild Card game

The Baltimore Orioles lost their first game of the 2024 postseason and their fourth consecutive postseason loss. It was a great pitcher’s duel, with ace Corbin Burnes pitching eight innings and allowing just one run on five hits while posting three strikeouts. A tough offensive day against the dominant Cole Ragans. They will look to bounce back in Game 2 with Zach Eflin on the mound.

After the game, the players talked about the importance of Wednesday’s game and their confidence in the team.

“I don’t think you can take this game and say, ‘Oh, we’re in trouble again.’ “It’s a playoff game. The bottom line is you have to find a way to score runs,” Ryan O’Hearn said.

Even though this team played in October, the playoffs are still a challenge, as O’Hearn alluded to. Baltimore struggled late in the season but bounced back. If they want to continue having success in this series, they need to score better in big situations.

On Tuesday, the Orioles went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left three runners in scoring position in two out situations. Taking timely action is now more important than ever.

Baltimore is ready for a win or a home game.

“I just have to go out there and play the way we know how to play. I mean, it’s pretty difficult at this point. You have to win or go home. Go out there and play your butt off and do whatever you want.” “I can win a game,” Gunnar Henderson said.

Henderson expressed his confidence in the team and the chemistry they had built before the series began. On Wednesday it will be time to put that to the test. That’s the consensus across the entire team – the trust in each other.

“There’s no better group I’d rather be with and I think that’s how everyone feels in this locker room. Everyone has supported each other all year and just one game doesn’t change anything. “The guys will be ready to go tomorrow,” Adleyrutschman added.

The Orioles are more battle-tested and ready for the challenge, and they won’t go down without a fight.

Corbin Burnes, who was brilliant in the first game, is one of the confident ones in the team.

“It’s win or go home. I think this is a team I would play against anyone with,” he said confidently.
