CBS News said Donald Trump has pulled out of a previously scheduled interview with 60 Minutes that would have aired during a prime-time election special next week.

The election special continues on Monday Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Waltz.

In a statement, the network said Trump “chose not to attend” after “initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview.” CBS News added:

The announcement came just hours before CBS News covered a vice presidential debate between Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, and his democratic opponent, Tim Waltz.

A spokesman for the Trump campaign, Steven Cheung, disputed CBS’s characterization of the events, calling it “fake news.”

Like during last month’s debate between Kamala Harris And Donald Trumpthere will be no live audience in the studio tonight.

Unlike the two previous presidential debates, both candidates’ microphones will not be muted. However, the moderator retains the option to mute their microphones.

JD Vance And Tim Waltz Two minutes are available for the final explanations. Vance won a virtual coin toss and chose to have the final say.

There will be two commercial breaks.

CBS News has pointed out that it’s up to Walz and Vance to fact-check their opponents – not the anchors.

According to CBS, a QR code will appear on the screen for portions of the debate. Viewers can scan the code to follow live coverage and analysis – including fact-checking – of the debate on their website. According to CBS, moderators will focus primarily on facilitating debate and enforcing the rules of debate.
