NL Wild Card Series Game Thread #1: Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Mets

It’s finally time for postseason baseball in Milwaukee. For the third time in four seasons, the Brewers are hosting a postseason series to open the playoffs, but this time they’re hoping for much better results.

Freddy Peralta was the opening day starter and also receives the nod for the first game of the postseason. He hasn’t pitched against the Mets since Opening Day in New York, but started the season well with just one run allowed in six innings.

His opponent is Luis Severino, who also faced the Brewers in this opening series but was less successful. In the second game of the season, he allowed six runs (three earned) in five innings. Severino is one of the few Mets who is rested. His last game took place on September 24th.

In the lineup for game one, Sal Frelick is back after his serious collision in Friday’s game against the Mets. He will take the eighth spot, which is now the usual lineup for Pat Murphy. There are no other surprises in today’s lineup.
