The New York Mets played one of them The most incredible games of the regular season on Monday and look to carry that momentum into Milwaukee to open the postseason.

The Mets are back where they were last week, traveling from Atlanta to Milwaukee. Last time out, the Mets suffered a frustrating loss to the Braves and two consecutive postponements. We’ve seen this with the Mets this season, where they get rusty very quickly if they miss several days due to rain (hello April). Now the Mets head to Milwaukee after celebrating their unlikely run into the postseason.

Game notes

Jesse Winker is in the lineup today after reportedly struggling with a back problem in recent days. He had an MRI last week but is feeling better today.

Kodai Senga through a 25-pitch live batting practice on Monday. His status for the playoffs is uncertain, but it was an encouraging sign.

Brett Baty, Pablo ReyesAnd Hayden Senger are on the Mets taxi squad in case of injury.

The Mets have tasked Eddie Alvarez with the task of creating space Max Kranickwho made it to the team’s wild card list. Alvarez was ineligible to play in the playoffs because he joined the Mets’ organization in September.

Three things to pay attention to

  1. Stolen bases. The Brewers love stealing bases. They stole 217 this year, good for second in Major League Baseball behind the Nationals (223). They have 17 of those stolen bases against the Mets. Simply absurd numbers. Once they reach the base, they will steal. How do the Mets respond? How do the Mets keep the Brewers from getting in their heads? How do I get the Brewers and their stolen bases out of my head?
  2. Home runs. We didn’t really see the Mets’ greatest strength last week in Milwaukee – their strength. The Mets hit 207 home runs in the regular season, good for sixth in Major League Baseball and fourth in the National League (behind the Dodgers, Braves, Diamondbacks and ahead of the Phillies). When the ball flies away from the Mets’ bats, the Mets feel inevitable.
  3. Francisco Lindor. The Mets’ MVP (and competition for Ohtani for league MVP) saved the Mets’ season on Monday. He went 2-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs. He was crucial in the first rally in which the Mets scored six runs and took the lead. With the Mets at their lowest, he hit a two-run pitch to take the lead. On Sunday, Lindor led the Mets to a win against the Brewers. He is everything to this team.

Let’s go, Mets!
