NASCAR penalty report released after Kansas Speedway

The weekend in Kansas produced some decent racing and some teams were penalized for minor infractions, NASCAR announced Tuesday night.

According to a press release Shane van Gisbergen And Brandon Jones were found with loose lug nuts after the Xfinity Series race. Both teams’ crew chiefs were subsequently fined $5,000.

These were the only penalties as there were no penalties in the Cup Series.

For van Gisbergen, crew chief Kevin Walters will eat the $5,000 fine. For Jones, it’s the crew chief Adam Wall who is entitled to the fine.

Both Jones and van Gisbergen had a pretty good run in the Xfinity Series at Kansas over the weekend. Jones finished sixth and led the race for four laps, earning 41 points. Van Gisbergen finished eighth and collected 29 points.

Van Gisbergen currently sits sixth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings. He has three wins, two poles and six top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes this season.

Carson Kvapil secures his 2025 NASCAR start

JR Motorsports announced this on Tuesday It promoted Carson Kvapil to full-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2025.

Kvapil is supported by Bass Pro Shops and will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet as a backup Sam Mayerwho has signed with the Haas Factory Team to drive the No. 41 Ford in the Xfinity Series next season.

The 21-year-old Kvapil is one of NASCAR’s up-and-coming young talents. He was very impressive on the CARS Tour, winning the series championship in 2022 and ’23 while driving for JR Motorsports. He only competed in five CARS events this season while continuing to dabble in NASCAR.

Kvapil, the son of a former NASCAR driver Travis Kvapilhas driven the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in eight Xfinity Series races this season. He came second Ryan Truex in Dover in April. Kvapil finished 12th in his only Truck Series start at Bristol in 2023 and has three top-three finishes in as many ARCA Menard Series starts.
