CNN guest gets into heated argument on TV with Republicans over Trump’s crime reduction plan: ‘They’re lying’

A CNN panelist attacked a prominent Florida Republican in a heated televised argument after he claimed crime had risen under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The shouting match between Democratic strategist Keith Boykin and Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Florida, occurred during a discussion about Donald Trump and his policies.

CNN anchor Abby Phillips moderated the talk about Trump claiming, in what appeared to be an unscripted moment at a rally, that he could quickly solve the shoplifting if he gave the police “a tough lesson.”

The speech led many to believe that Trump was suggesting the plot of The Purge film series.

“Does it mean that cops can do whatever they want for a day and the problem will actually be solved?” Phillips says incredulously after playing the clip of Trump.

Then Byron responds curtly, “No, he’s not,” and says that crime in the United States has increased.

The pressure before the explosion was building.

“Even the clip you just played was five seconds away from an hour-long speech for Donald Trump.” I think people often say, “Well, that’s what he said.” Five seconds? Yes, he says things that aren’t in the script. He goes off the cuff. “He’s not serious, there’s no politics behind it,” Donalds said.

The Floridian continued: “Donald Trump said a comment for five seconds. ‘This is not a determination of policy, this reveals the fear of the American people.’

But the Democrat immediately defended himself.

“Donald Trump has said inflammatory things in the past. “It’s not just these five seconds, Congressman, and you know that,” Boykin said.

The strategist spoke about Trump’s role on January 6, arguing that he has a history of fiery rhetoric.

However, Donalds countered that Trump was the one who was the target of partisan political discussions and pointed out that he had been the target of assassins twice.

“Are we going to talk about the rhetoric against Donald Trump?” “Because we realize there have been two attempts to kill him now,” Donalds said.

“The reality in America is that crime is on the rise,” the Republican continued.

Boykin became angry and shouted that Donalds was a liar.

“Crime is not increasing massively!”

“That’s a lie! You lie! You lie!’ the Democrat claimed loudly.

The strategist then turned his ire on Phillips for allowing himself to be challenged by Donalds.

“Abby, why would you let this man lie like that on national television? That is not right. “You’re a liar, Congressman,” Boykins said.

Phillips then calmed both guests down, regained control of the show, and showed Department of Justice statistics showing that crime was declining in key categories such as murder and rape.
